My students need a class trip for 60 tickets to go to Colonial Williamsburg.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Helms's classroom raised $1,280

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a fourth grade literacy teacher at a public charter school in Washington, DC. The school serves pre-k through 7th grade students who come from extremely diverse racial, socio-economic and home language backgrounds.
In fourth grade we focus on US history. Currently, we are studying early America and the colonial period. Our students are fired up and want to learn more about US history, especially the colonial period. We can't keep our library stocked with enough books on this period because the students keep checking them out.
A trip to Williamsburg will give the students a hands on experience that will bring what they are reading and studying to life. While in Williamsburg we will take part in a guided tour, explore exhibition buildings, colonial trade shops, and colonial homes of the Historic Area. PLUS, we will go on a tour of the Governor’s Palace and the museums (Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Museum, DeWitt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum, and Bassett Hall). In addition to the academic benefits of the trip, we hope that this will become a standout memory of their fourth grade year!
We realize this is a significant amount of money to raise. However, the educational value and the experience the students will have in Williamsburg make it well worth it! You will make it possible for students to experience something they have never experienced before.
