Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
With a Teachers Pay Teachers gift card, I will be able to source unique materials that support my autistic student's unique educational needs. Teachers Pay Teachers has so many wonderful resources and materials that can be customizable for each of my students.
My goal for this project is to be able to purchase relatable, interesting and supportive materials that I can use with my Autistic students.
I will be able to grow my visual library, static communication devices and visual schedules with the Teachers Pay Teachers gift card.
My students are in the Horizon Program, which is a program that focuses on strengthening academic, communication and social skills and supports students in different classroom settings. All students are in a class of 8 students, 1 teacher and 1 paraprofessional. Unique to Horizon is the Horizon Social Curriculum. This is a group speech session led by the speech therapist and supported by the classroom teacher and paraprofessional. The focus of the Horizon Social Curriculum is centered around supporting the students in developing authentic social communication skills, navigating social challenges, while also learning self-advocacy and efficacy skills. Through the Social Curriculum and other supports, we support our students' growth in all areas!
