Support My Students with Scholastic Storyworks!

Help me give my students subscriptions to Scholastic's Storyworks magazine so they can learn with resources that reflect their lives, interests and identities.

My Project

Storyworks includes a magazine subscription for each of my third grade students, both digital and .pdf activities, family letters, a teacher's guide, and multimedia resources! I plan to use Storyworks for weekly in-class learning, and homework extensions. I want high interest and engaged readers. This can all be achieved through subscriptions to Scholastic's Storyworks!

A magazine just for them!

Children might see mom and dad get magazines for themselves, but mainly they are for entertainment purposes. They aren't used to seeing this type of resource used for learning or education. I need a way to show my students how useful and informative periodicals can be.

Scholastic publishes a great magazine called Storyworks. Inside this magazine is a multitude of articles and activities on the students' levels that help them with all their skills across the subject levels. It supports a balanced curriculum. They provide a guide for teachers and even have more information for both students and teachers on their website available for download.

I can't ask my students to purchase this on their own and our school can't cover the cost, so I am asking you to help fund my project and provide my class with this wonderful resource.

This is just some of what Storyworks has to offer:

• Six monthly issues featuring fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and illustrations.

• Writing activities that have students compare and contrast side-by-side articles.

• Read-aloud plays, multicultural literature, author interviews, student book reviews, and contests.

• Vocabulary and grammar activities in every issue.

• A template-based writing program that teaches students to write clear, well-organized paragraphs and five-paragraph essays.

• Test prep at the end of every issue that help students build reading comprehension and higher-order critical thinking skills.

• Free resources that cover grammar and language arts standards.
