Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are energetic, curious, and full of potential. They come to school each day eager to learn, but many of them face unique sensory challenges that can make the classroom environment overwhelming. Some students become easily distracted by noise, others seek movement or pressure to feel calm, and several benefit from chewing tools to focus.
My goal is to create a safe, welcoming space where every child can focus, regulate, and thrive.
To help meet my students’ sensory needs, I am requesting weighted lap pads, noise-canceling headphones, and chewable tools. These items will make a tremendous difference for students who struggle with overstimulation or attention challenges. The lap pads will provide calming pressure during whole-group lessons, headphones will reduce distractions during independent work, and chew tools will offer a safe, appropriate outlet for oral sensory needs.
