My students need dynamic cushions, Clink n Link sets, rhythm instruments, beanbag seats cardboard blocks, mini rings, plastic farm animals, a junior engineer set, threading beads, a bowling set, snap-n-learn caterpillars, rubber stamps, and other manipulatives.
My students love to explore and are hard workers. They love music and movement and most especially they are eager to learn. I expect a lot from my students and I want to make sure that they achieve their educational goals. My guiding principle is "Anything is possible. Anything can be" S.Silverstein
I have 7 students with autism.
They are in grades K-2. I have a very diverse group ranging from students who are mild to students who are severe. My students are very tactile and have a lot of sensory issues. They need sensory breaks like jumping, squeezing toys and sliding but my classroom does not have the materials to satisfy their needs. I teach in a high performing school in Gardena, on a general education campus. Students and teachers are very respectful and caring to the students with disabilities.
My Project
The dynamic cushions, Clink n Link sets, rhythm instruments, beanbag seats cardboard blocks, mini rings, plastic farm animals, a junior engineer set, threading beads, a bowling set, snap-n-learn caterpillars, rubber stamps, and other materials that I am requesting will help my students in teaching them in Language arts, mathematics and socialization. The sensory materials will help them have meaningful sensory breaks on times when they need it the most. Sensory toys can help my students calm down when they are having meltdowns and also will also help them to focus on the tasks that are given to them. The other toys will teach them to play with a purpose and to socialize with one another. I am very excited to see my students growing, learning and loving school.
The materials I am requesting will help my students a lot in different areas.
The sensory toys will help them focus on the tasks given and will calm them when they are having tantrums. The toys will help them socialize with each other and it can aid me in teaching them how to play (which is a deficit for children with autism).
