My Students
Help spark the creativity in my elementary and beginning band students! My classroom needs an instrument stand to use our xylophone to help us learn to read music and band methods books to start on their journey as band members.
We live on a remote island in Alaska, hours away from anything like a large city.
The kids here love the outdoors, have known the bears and fish of our wilderness for most (if not all) of their lives, and are passionate about music. Our small town has a lot of creativity!
My Project
Remember the first time you saw an instrument up-close? Remember seeing the bright sheen of a trumpet? Or feeling the crispness of the clarinet reed? Or marveled at the intricate keys of a flute? From the moment my students open their cases they are hooked and want to be musicians for life.
Their beginning band method books, though, are far less inspirational. They are missing pages, or poorly taped together after years of use, or have entire sections bent entirely out of shape. Help give my students new band methods books to inspire them as much as their instruments!
We also need an instrument stand for our elementary xylophone. This stand will help us be able to use our xylophone more readily and will allow younger students to utilize it properly. Our xylophone is an intricate part of learning to read music and paves the way to our beginning band class!
