My Students

My students are 3rd graders from Brooklyn, NY in a specialized program which provides them with learning opportunities in an 8:1:1 setting. All of my learners are students who are on the Autism Spectrum as well.

My students are curious, investigative, and ambitious learners and one of my goals as an educator is to provide them with the most hands-on and engaging learning opportunities possible.

This includes access to technology-based learning opportunities.

My students are visual and tactile learners and making sure they are actively engaged in learning opportunities and have access to the technology to do so is a priority!

My Project

My students are actively engaged learners who learn best when provided with hands-on technology-based learning opportunities. I am seeking out Chromebooks for each student that will be utilized every day during Independent Reading, writing, as well as daily Math instruction.

Independent Reading on a daily, consistent basis has been shown to be a key factor in overall reading growth and success.

There is a correlation in the number of engaged minutes of reading a child completes daily and their overall reading level. To provide students with the opportunity to take part in engaged and sustained reading every day with access to the highest access of books possible, I am asking for Chromebooks so that each student can log into our brand new online school Library program where students can browse books of their choosing, and then follow up by answering comprehension questions pertaining to what they've read. This will provide students with literally a library at their fingertips and promote reading, in turn increasing overall literacy skills. The same online library also provides students with a "read aloud" to model reading fluency and test listening comprehension skills as well. For this reason, I am asking for a set of headphones to minimize distractions during independent reading time.

The same Chromebooks will be used in the writing process for publishing of edited and revised writing pieces. Students will take rough draft work and use word processing programs to publish their final copy writing.

Finally, the same Chromebooks will be used daily in Math centers for game-based math review. Students will utilize the Chromebooks to review Common Core Standards through fun and engaging math games.

My students are motivated, enthusiastic, and passionate learners who with the right tools have the possibility to do and learn amazing things!
