My Project

Our classroom is home to an incredible group of young learners with Autism Spectrum Disorder and significant speech delays. Each student brings unique strengths, perspectives, and needs—and many of them rely on sensory input to feel safe, regulated, and ready to learn. We are requesting a Trampoline, Play-Doh, Play Sand, and more to support calm, focus, and joy.

In our Extended Day Resource Room, we’ve seen firsthand how access to sensory materials can transform a student’s ability to focus, communicate, and participate in meaningful ways.

That’s why we’re seeking support to bring in a variety of tactile and movement-based sensory tools that will serve as calming and engaging outlets for our students throughout the school day.

This project will fund:

Playdough for fine motor development, imaginative play, and calming tactile input

Kinetic sand to provide a soothing, hands-on experience that helps students stay grounded and focused

Dry beans and aquarium rocks for sensory bins that promote exploration, texture recognition, and quiet, centered play

A mini trampoline to give students safe, structured movement breaks that help regulate energy levels and support emotional control

These sensory tools will be embedded into center-based learning activities, movement breaks, and individualized sensory diets throughout the day. Whether a student is seeking pressure, texture, movement, or a way to manage anxiety, each of these items will give them safe and purposeful ways to meet those needs—ultimately improving their focus, confidence, and participation in academic and social activities.

Our classroom celebrates every small victory: a student using words instead of behaviors, making eye contact during group time, or simply staying engaged in an activity for a few more minutes than the day before. With your help, we can provide the tools our students need to make those victories happen.
