My Students
I teach in a Title I school, and most of my students come from low-income homes. I am their Family and Consumer Science teacher. Many of my students have a hunger to learn how to cook and learn life skills that they will hold onto for life. Many of my students are very wonderful and curious children who want to see the world through food and create things with their own two hands.
As their teacher, I want to foster this hunger through engaging, interactive, and hands-on lessons.
I believe that half of the learning comes from a book and the other half by applying that knowledge to a hands-on activity. I want to share my knowledge and passion for my subject that lights a spark of inspiration in my students.
My Project
During the year of Covid teachers across the country have had to find ways to create assignments that did not just function in the classroom but miles away in a student's home. Throughout the year I have had to find new ways to teach my lessons in a very untraditional way.
Teachers Pay Teachers has been a great resource for me to find new and exciting activates for my students while helping support teachers across the country.
These amazing and creative teachers share their educational creativity so teachers like me that struggle to create new styles of assignments can make learning more exciting for my students.
More than half of students from low‑income households
