Supplying Students with a Smorgasbord of Items for Success
Help me give my students an array of classroom items, such as standing desks, bookcases, and a set of books, that will be needed and used in my classes this upcoming school year.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
2019-2020 will be my fourth year as a middle school teacher and I could not be more grateful! I don't know what I did in life to get so lucky to teach such incredible kids! I currently teach at a K-8 school. Our school is small but we are a family.
My students are some of the kindest, smartest, funniest kids I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and teaching.
They come from all walks of life. Some just came to our country, others are second-generation Americans. They are just awesome! They all truly care about learning, which makes my heart swell. My heart belongs to "my kids" and my classroom. My goal is to give them a safe, happy space where they can thrive and be part of an enriching learning experience.
My Project
The items I am requesting to be funded would help me, my students, and my classroom. In our classroom, we have two bookcases that are broken, and I have taped them up because I currently have nowhere else to place those books. I would love to swap out two desks and chairs for standing desks for students who cannot sit still and do not like to sit. Giving them an option to stand rather than sit may make them less fidgety and focus on learning. I would also like to add a new rug for our classroom reading corner, as I had to throw out the rug I had because it was filthy and could no longer serve its purpose. I also need a classroom set of Sandra Cisnero's amazing book The House on Mango Street, as I plan to use it as a class novel for the upcoming school year. The rest of the items are supplies I would like to stock up on as they can get expensive, and I use them throughout the year.
I take pride in creating a classroom setting wherein my students feel safe, happy and comfortable.
Right now my class is in need of a little TLC.
