This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Remember looking at diagrams in science for the first time and thinking "there are so many parts"? We are learning about biology and how organisms function, and it is very difficult to differentiate details when you only have a pen and pencil for your illustrations.

Our school is full of curious, multicultural scholars that are most successful in learning new concepts with kinesthetic activities and hands-on models.

Although we have considerate parent involvement, over 80% of our students come from low socioeconomic status, which makes it difficult to require specific school supplies for the year.

My Project

There are several projects our students will be creating over the next few months that will assist them in learning new science concepts. Having the requested markers, crayons, colored pencils and construction paper will allow them to build models of the cells, create posters that demonstrate how genetics play roles in our characteristics, and provide a first-time opportunity for our students to apply to the County Science Fair.

Your donation will not only help support students to increase their interest in the science field, but since I volunteer my time after-school, other students throughout our school will have additional resources to complete projects and assignments in other academic areas.
