This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are suffering from a great deal of social-emotional stress during this time of distance learning. In addition to trying to stay connected to me and their classmates, many of my students have parents who have lost their jobs or are unable to work due to workplace closures. Many of my students have struggled to get internet and technology in order to help them stay connected.

My students have grit and won't quit trying to log in to our class meetings and access the videos I am posting to help them maintain and grow the learning progress they've made.

I am so proud of the effort my students and their families have put into making distance learning work for them.

My Project

The materials I have requested will provide students with the same school supplies we use in the classroom, at home.

To encourage participation and completion of school work, I have asked for school supplies that students will keep in their homes, so that distance learning can continue and they will be organized and prepared.

Waterproof labels will help to identify materials and make sure that they can withstand busy households, as well as being shoved into backpacks. Colorful poly envelopes will allow my students to easily find their work and remember to bring it back to school. The common school supplies of crayons, pencils, and glue, that mimic our classroom supplies, will bring comfort as students are familiar with them and know how to use them.
