This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am requesting basic classroom supplies to help provide my students with the tools they needs to be successful in their educational journey. We use pencils, glue sticks, scissors, erasers, white boards and markers daily. We use these materials in varies different ways and across all subject areas.

My students come from mostly low income homes and cannot afford to buy supplies for themselves or they have gone to the dollar store and the supplies break easily and cannot last for the duration of the school year.

As a teacher, I spend at least $100 per month in snacks for my classroom as the students have four and a half hours between breakfast and lunch. As adults that may seem fine but for children that is a very long time. Most students eat the breakfast and lunch provided by the school and they often do not eat it as it is not appealing to the palate.

We have gone through all of our glue sticks in our interactive vocabulary center. This center is important because the wider their vocabulary is the better they are able to read and most are struggling readers.
