This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have a number of students in my class who are actively trying their best every day in my class. I funded the majority of my classroom this year after seeing all of the needs of my students both in terms of their academics and their mental health. My students have expressed how meaningful the purchases I already have made for them are, however, I would like to do more. My students take turns with the one weighted stuffed animal I was able to afford, and eagerly share supplies with one another. I would like to provide them with the things they need and deserve.

These students deserve to succeed.

They are coming to school with the mentality that this is their home away from home. A safe space for them to grow as people. I have children who are going through challenges at home, who come to school tired and anxious, and who are thankful for whatever is given to them. I am looking to provide my students with as many tools as I can to ensure their success. I have students at a variety of different levels academically, and students who were bullied last year due to the fact that they are ELL. I want to give these students books that they are able to read and tools that they are able to use. I am asking for books that will best benefit them in terms of their phonemic awareness. I believe that every child can become an amazing reader, student, and person. But in order to do that I need support using materials such as those in the Phonemic Awareness Instant Learning Centers.

The weighted pillows provide support for my students mentally. The classroom supplies are essential for them to succeed.
