This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My first graders attend a great school in Northern California. The school that I work for is in a high-poverty area. Some of my students face the normal things that are often associated with poverty. These obstacles do not impact their love for school. My students love to learn new things and are very excited about learning how to read.

I am very happy that I work at a school where the staff really believes that all students can achieve academic success with the right support and mindset.

My Project

Do you know what it is like trying to run a classroom without basic supplies? I would like to make sure I start off the year with the right tools. Since our schools have endured budget cuts our allotted have been cut down to a minimal.

I usually purchase many things for my students during the back-to-school sales, but unfortunately primary pencils are never part of those sales.

My young students are just learning to hold pencils properly and do better with the thicker pencils. I am also asking for ink for our classroom printer, and construction paper for our various projects. I do not send "wish lists" home with my students so your generosity is very much appreciated.
