This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge"- Albert Einstein. When I was a student, I had a few teachers that rewarded us for doing a great job on an assignment and following the class rules. I want to be the kind of teacher that celebrates success.

All of my students are not accustomed to technology...I've been in an ongoing fight to change that.

The urban school that I teach at is a Title 1 school, close to being taken over by the state because of low Connecticut Mastery Test scores. Science is still included in the state of CT under the Common Core Standards until at least year 2017, and every door I can open for these students that have nothing when they go home that is scientific, makes a world of difference. My students' scores have risen over the years on the science CMT testing since I've been on a mission to have a complete technology classroom that fulfills what every class should have.

My Project

The items I am requesting are for the Playstation Vita I purchased with my own money ($200.00) to protect the mini gaming/computer system while my students use this to look up information and use as a reward for doing an outstanding job following directions by being safe, respectful, responsible and proud of themselves. The game I am requesting is an educational game that has math/science activities to incorporate scientific inquiry and mathematical operations.

I believe that other students that are not trying to their potential and seeing other students allowed to use my Playstation Vita learning game system will work harder in the classroom to have the privilege of using my personal computer system.

This one extra creative device in the classroom will spark interest in my students that have difficulties inside and outside the classroom.
