Help me give my students the stepping stones, pruning snips, watering cans, and seeds needed to start our garden.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Hays's classroom raised $181

My Students
Students arrive at our school through several avenues, including from the local neighborhood, magnet enrollment, and the academic center. A majority of students are from low-income backgrounds and from minority groups.
There is a healthy sense of community which the students have helped to create, and gardening club aims to enhance a courtyard common space to help sustain this environment.
Gardening club students are ambitious, but we do not yet have funding to complete projects. So far, students have planted free, split hostas and lilies in the courtyard and have helped mulch and spread seeds in a local community garden. In addition to community service, students want to plant trees, start an edible garden in the courtyard, beautify the courtyard naturally with plants and flowers.
My Project
Our students are very enthusiastic about both the science and art aspects of gardening club, but we are a new club and do not yet have funding.
Students want to create an edible garden, using herb and vegetable seeds, and want to beautify the courtyard.
We recently painted bird houses, but we would like seeds to put inside them. Having the opportunity to customize stepping stones would allow students to further decorate. There are already vines and bushes in the courtyard, so small pruning tools would be helpful in refining the space. We do not yet have access to a hose, so watering cans will be required in the meantime. The students will be so appreciative if we are able to secure these resources!
