Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are from Los Angeles, California. Our school is a Title I school with 97% of students receiving free or reduced-rate lunch. Many of them come from impoverished backgrounds and do not have access to engaging materials at home.

Our school's mission is to "To empower, prepare, and inspire urban students to achieve their highest potential and become active citizens who work toward building a more just, humane, and world."

My ideal classroom environment would embody this mission statement. Unfortunately, sometimes it is hard to get my hands on all the materials and resources I would like for classroom and students.

My Project

These materials are going to help my students stay organized and engaged throughout the school year. I want my students to be able to get their hands on supplies that support them in being independent learners.

Many of the supplies like the chair buddies, writing folders, connect-and-store bins, book bags, index folders, and turn-your-work-in organizers are going to help my students find and clean up their supplies quickly so that we have as much time as possible spent on learning!

Other materials (magnetic white boards, erasers, higher lighter tapes, and index cards) will be used by the teacher and students to promote literacy and mathematics instruction in small and groups.
