This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a teacher of a class of 40 students, I always seek ways to engage and inspire them. Because I work in a low-income community where supplies are low, I've recently considered incorporating twistable crayons/pencils into our classroom activities, hoping they will last longer. I have used regular crayons in the past, but as you can imagine, we go through them quickly. However, purchasing enough twistable crayons/pencils for an entire class of 40 students is expensive. That's why I am requesting donations to help fund the purchase of twistable crayons/pencils. Any amount, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated.
My students are incredibly creative and thoroughly enjoy illustrating a story after reading it.
Their art allows them to express their understanding of what they read and enables me to gauge their reading comprehension. In addition, my students use different colors during word work. We write simple CVC words and change one letter to make a new word. The visual color change helps students understand the concept better and further supports their learning. Thank you so much for considering my request. Your generosity will help make a real difference in the lives of my students.
