Help me give my students at DES a better Digital Learning Experience. I am the K-2nd Math Teacher Specialist and need our campus teachers to have a small board and a headset at home.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students at DES are amiable, persistent, explorers, and courageous. The students at our campus are always eager to learn despite all the challenges they currently face due to the pandemic and living in an underserved community with one of the highest poverty rates in the Houston area. The students from this campus have inspired the teachers and staff in so many ways, their resilience is truly admirable and I'm privileged to learn from them as much as they will continue to learn from me. The school constitutes of 100 percent of the students considered economically disadvantaged and 80 percent at-risk. Even though our students are deprived of many basic necessities, they seek comfort and happiness in the education that is provided at DES.
My Project
The materials will make a big impact in the students' learning at DES because 12 teachers will have whiteboards at home which they will use to model Math Problems on a daily basis. Even though our teachers have many digital resources to deliver the content, a board will come in handy to model Math problems or explain other content areas. The headsets will enhance the learning experience because it will improve the quality of the pre-recorded lessons or live lessons for the students. These materials will also help to ease the students' anxiety since it will combine the virtual learning experience with the traditional, which our students were accustomed to.
