My Students

My students are from an inner city section of Cleveland, known for unsafe streets. We focus on making safety one of our top concerns at school because a feeling of safety allows you to focus on learning while at school.

My students are fourth and fifth graders just trying to succeed in education with obstacles that we are trying to overcome to match our counterparts in more affluent areas.

I would like my students to be able to learn modern uses for technology such as Google Docs and online storage, to be ready for future careers.

My Project

My students need the basic supplies at the beginning of the school year, as not all of their families send them to school with the supplies from the school supply list.

I want to give each student one folder per subject to keep organized; paper; and a new pencil to begin the first day of school.

I also need a sturdy pencil sharpener that can survive a year (or more) with 4th and 5th graders, who are not always gentle with sharpeners.

Our school mascot is the Bobcat, so having bathroom passes with a paw print fits smoothly in our school. I normally purchase all of these supplies on my own, but decided to try something different for my students this year.

We use wipe off whiteboards frequently in class, and the dry erase markers seem to dry out each year. A new set of 24 dry erase markers, with erasers, will help us have great lessons, and less marker on the fingers from erasing with hands.
