My students need supplies for the VIP table such as tape, tape dispenser, desk organizers, mini staplers and staples, color paper, an electric sharpener, scissors, party beads, mini erasers, stickers, gel highlighters, pens, pencils, & post-its.
Our school is one of four schools in our district including one primary, one elementary, one middle school, and one high school. We serve students with a 78% poverty rate who quality for free or reduced price lunch.
With that being said, these students lack experiences to build their base knowledge.
I hope to conquer this challenge by offering them meaningful learning experiences, using technology, hands-on artifacts, and real life applications.
I teach forty-eight third-graders, that come from a rural community. My students are eager to learn, love technology, and always work to do their best, no matter the circumstances.
My Project
I plan to create a special place for students to sit and get the "royal treatment" throughout the day. By "royal treatment" I mean that they have access to all of those special supplies that all of the other students want. Things like markers, post-its, mechanical pencils, fun erasers, stickers, white boards, staplers, tape, party beads, their own table, etc. I plan to choose four students each day who I noticed exhibiting VIP traits the day before. It will be someone doing their best, giving 100% effort, showing kindness, etc. If there's a rough day where no one was exhibiting top quality traits then the VIP table could be empty. This project will make a difference because it will enable me to create a super special learning environment for students exhibiting extraordinary behavior and motivate everyone to be on their best behavior at all times.
