This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A typical day in my classroom is a busy day. The room is always bustling, with lots of students who are ready to learn. Unfortunately, it is also a struggle to provide some of the supplies necessary for learning, such as paper, pens and tissues.

I work at a low income, Title I school, at which most of our students qualify for free lunch.

Many of my students will be the first in their families to graduate from high school. Many of my students are college-bound, highly motivated, hard working and dream of success.

My Project

These materials may seem insignificant, but make such a difference. Paper will allow me to make copies to help students master the Common Core standards, which our textbooks are not aligned to; it is also needed for student projects and to print their essays. Lined paper will be used daily for classwork. Antibacterial gel keeps their hands clean, which will keep students healthier, and in school rather than at home sick. We also never have enough tissues, and students waste valuable class time walking to the restroom for tissue. Students also use tissues during mandatory breakfast in the classroom. Rubber bands will make it easier for students to bring home their projects. Different colored pens help them to color code their writing, which is a great learning strategy. Small things like this all contribute to student success.
