This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach students in an inner-city school. My students have reading and language-based disabilities that impact their ability to learn to read in traditional ways. I use the Orton-Gillingham multi-sensory method to teach reading. They work hard every day to improve their decoding and reading comprehension skills.
My students face many obstacles at home and in school but they are resilient and eager to learn.
My Project
These items will help my group of students stay engaged through multisensory methods. They love to see their writing on the whiteboard. They will also be able to manipulate magnetic letters on the whiteboard to form words and practice spelling. Scissors and glue will also be used to engage students in hands-on learning. My students are frequently making games to reinforce the skills that they are working on.
