This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come to school daily with a desire to learn. They bring with them a passion to tackle whatever the day has in store. My combo class class consists of students from varying backgrounds and abilities. I have English Learners, students with families from other countries, and some who receive special education services. The zeal that they have for education is one that I want to cultivate and fuel.

Despite varying home life situations, my students come to school with an enthusiasm to learn.

My 30 fourth and fifth grade students are eligible for free or reduced-price lunch. They are a diverse group that embodies the melting pot that our community is well known for.

My Project

With the end of this school year quickly approaching, we begin to prep for our next set of students. My students need school supplies to jump start the school year. By providing them with basic supplies such as folders, pens, and pencils, we set them up for success from the beginning. Chart paper will help to create anchor charts. Pencil boxes and notebooks will keep students' materials organized and also provide a space to organize their thoughts during Reading and Writing Workshop. Students will also utilize the folders for homework, unfinished work, and for school to home correspondence. All materials will be available for school and home use.

These supplies will provide students an opportunity to maintain organization throughout the entire school year in all academic areas.

In addition to fostering supply management and organization, the supplies will lessen the economic hardship some students may face when it comes to purchasing back to school supplies.
