Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 2nd grade and my students are diverse from low economic homes. I currently teach a busy group of 20 second grade students. The majority of my children are far below grade level. These children come to school every day with very diverse needs. As their teacher and caregiver, it is my goal to ensure that my students are the most successful that they can be. In my room, we constantly look towards to future by considering ourselves the Penn State Class of 2033. Every little bit that you fund, a child gets closer to that goal.

My Project

What do all children need to succeed in school? School supplies! We are so fortunate in our classroom to have an overflowing library, comfortable seating and lots of love, but we are lacking something crucial: materials. As a teacher, it is difficult to purchase everything that my students need.

I need to provide my children with the basic supplies for their success within school.

Pencils are the most used item in our classroom, and we are running dangerously low. We also will use the markers daily to incorporate pictures to our writing and reading. Sticky notes are used to annotate our reading, ask questions and answer questions. The diverse colored pencils will allow my students to represent themselves within their work. The bright colored paper helps me as the teacher differentiate work in the class so that every student can get what they need. Your donation will help provide 20 2nd graders and their teacher with the materials that we need to finish our school year strong.
