This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are an enthusiastic, imaginative group of fifth graders. They are living in an inner-city community. Many are living in shelters. Some are English Language Learners and others have an Individualized Educational Plan. There are many students who have repeated a grade. Most face challenges both inside and outside of school on a daily basis. Despite these challenges, they love learning. They work hard every day in school and at home. They work with classmates to problem solve. They have goals and are working hard to achieve them.

My Project

We are running low on basic supplies that my students need.

Having dry erase paddle boards is an engaging way to do math.

In order to use these boards effectively, we need dry erase markers and erasers. In addition, we write daily and having pens both blue and red available enable us to do rough drafts and then revise and edit our writing. Feedback is given daily on post-it notes. Having scissors and tape for each group is necessary for the projects that we do in science and social studies. Students feel valued when they have the supplies necessary to learn and progress. My students are eager to learn and progress. These implements will help them.
