My Students

Do you remember your early childhood masterpieces? I look back fondly on my time spent creating and celebrating art, and want to provide the same creative outlet for my students.

I have a curious set of diverse students who are eager to learn and explore new topics.

Unfortunately, disengagement has become something of a common denominator across our school district over the last few years. We have found that starting as early as elementary school, it has become increasingly difficult to get children to school on a regular basis. In spite of this, the student’s energy inspires me to create meaningful and memorable lessons across the curriculum. The activities that we complete, both in and out of the classroom, are also greatly restricted by the socioeconomic makeup of our student body, as well as the absence of a budget for art supplies in our 5th-grade classroom.

The students themselves are very willing to work in school and take the opportunity to utilize the limited resources that are available.

My Project

After months of hard work and learning, our supplies are beginning to disappear. Our crayons are crumbs, our pencils are puny, and our construction paper has completely diminished.

These materials will improve my classroom instruction drastically by giving my students the ability to add color to their interactive notebooks and projects.

Currently, my students have to share markers, glue, and scissors. Generally, they have been very kind when sharing with each other, but having to wait to use these materials sometimes takes a toll on their ability to focus and learn.

We would greatly appreciate your donation to help each student have their own pack of colored pencils and glue and markers for their group.
