Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach third grade in a Title I school in Long Island City, New York. My students come from a very low income area and most live in public housing. Many live in shelters as well. Many of my students come from poverty. All the students receive free breakfast and lunch. My school is a community school, so we help meet many of the families needs. We have provided a dentist, mental health counseling, and even a food pantry.

Despite the challenges that my students face, they are positive, motivated, kind, and fun loving.

They love to learn and appreciate the little things. They love to read and they love to learn using technology.

My students come into class everyday with smiles on their faces and always willing to lend a hand. They are kind to each other and to anyone they meet. My hope is to give them everything they need to help them learn and keep those faces smiling!

My Project

My students needs to have individual supplies due to not being able to share in the classroom. These supplies will make sure that they are able to write and create in my classroom safely. They will be able to create their interactive notebooks, and complete writing pieces without worrying about obtaining others' germs. My students come from a very low income area, therefore they seldom are able to bring in school supplies, so this will ensure that each of them has what they need to succeed.

We need to keep the students' learning environment as safe as possible!

Many of my students come to school hungry, so the individual snack bags will allow me to continue to give them snacks when they are hungry.
