My Students

Our school has the challenge of suffering from budget cuts from the state. We now have no budget for music. I am putting my efforts into fundraising and the Donor Choose website. Music will be devastated if we do not support our schools. As of this moment now our federal government is not supporting.

We have an extremely wide range of students, from high to low income families, from native English speakers to English being a 3rd language, Military families, and families of all races and religions.

The diversity is large and the students exhibit many of these different traits. This charter school is home to a large variety in a small group.

My Project

Each year that I have been teaching here I have tried to implement a challenging music model for these students. We have a completely free music program in which students/families pay nothing for the opportunity to have an instrument to play, music and supplies. Each student from 4th-8th will be playing an instrument with the Band and progress each year, learning the gift of musicianship. My students need music books for band class. These are books that are very useful to the students because they also include a CD/DVD.

Music is the ability to express oneself through a new medium.

Students learn self-discipline, teamwork, and dedication to a group. Each student relies on each other to do their part and support each other along the way.
