This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As brand new courses offered by our Fine Arts program, the sculpture and painting classes are in desperate need of supplies. While a certain amount of thriftiness is expected, our students deserve brand new materials and tools to work with, especially where none exist.

In a Title 1 school, art is a crucial tool for safe expression.

I have high aspirations for these students, and a portion of that is giving them the responsibility of caring for and using new quality supplies they deserve. Given the financial situations of many of our students, I have already expressed to them that I will never ask them to pay for their own supplies. This sentiment combined with my expectations for their responsibilities will foster the perfect environment for that safe expression.
