This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am going into my fifth year of teaching at my school in West Philadelphia!! Year after year there are always kids that surprise me, inspire me, and teach me something about myself and my teaching craft.
All students deserve an amazing education, regardless of where they live and what they look like.
My students are all eligible for free and reduced school lunch, they all receive breakfast, and the vast majority are African-American. Many of the school supplies that are needed or requested may not be bought due to cost. I wish to make the stressful supply-buying time for families easier by having supplies in my classroom for students to be able to use daily.
My Project
These materials will make the 2017-2018 school year run more smoothly! With the current science curriculum, we tape paper into our notebooks DAILY! With all the tape you help supply, students will not have to carry around personal tape dispensers all day, and all students will have access to this supply that can get pretty costly.
My students will be encouraged from your unwavering support.
Each year I tell my students about those that donated supplies to us, and they couldn't be happier about having all the supplies we need.
We will be using the tape and glue daily for notebook activities. The markers, sharpies, and scissors will be used for in class projects and posters. All of the pencils will be put into the pencil vending machine I have in my classroom (where all funds go to buying more supplies!). The colored paper and card stock paper are used for weekly awards for students. The privacy boards will be used during testing. Lastly, the binders and binder pockets will be in an area in the room where homework and papers are stored so students can get their missed materials.
