My students need pencils, markers, and crayons to complete daily assignments. They need headphones for literacy activities on the computer so that they can hear the sounds.
A day in my room is full of talking, movement, and learning. I want all my students to be reading by the end of the school year and ready for first grade but is a struggle getting them to all be on grade level in reading. My favorite quote is "You can never give up if you try"
My kids are a bright and vibrant bunch of 5 and 6 year olds.
They love to talk and give hugs to friends and fellow teachers and staff members. My students LOVE read alouds and independent reading time and are always so engaged with books. They love to read with partners and read to me! My school is in a low income area and the majority of students are also low income families. My school is more like a family. We treat all children and staff as if they were are own family members. We have a warm, nurturing, and open environment and take on many struggles that our students face. We provide them with love and an a great learning environment to help them be not the only the best student but the best person they can be for the future.
My Project
My students will use the crayons, markers, and pencils for daily learning assignments. We do a lot of CVC words and pictures to match and these materials are used very frequently and get worn very quickly. Glue sticks are used for more of our hands on literacy, science, and math activities. Students do a lot of cutting and pasting from magazines and newspapers. The headphones are needed for our computer time. Students use literacy and math websites such as Starfall.com to help with learning letters, letter sounds, sight words, and counting. The headphones help students to become better engaged in the activities and also helps them to hear more clearly without the distraction of the outside noise in the computer lab.
My project will improve my classroom learning overall in all subject areas including science, literacy, math, and social studies.
My students will get the benefit of having their own headphones to listen to stories being read to them and also practicing sight words and sounds easily for my below grade level students. Having new crayons will make it easier for them to create outstanding drawings to go with the many stories and words that they love to draw pictures about.
