My Students
Our school is in a low socioeconomic area, and it is a Title I school. Our district provides only a few essential school supplies, and it falls to the teacher to provide some basic classroom necessities.
Many students come from homes with little or no parental support, and they need us to meet needs that go beyond state standards.
It takes more than worksheets to help students get ready to move on to a higher grade. They need to have their confidence built up and be secure in their ability to demonstrate proficiency in a subject. They are ready to learn and are waiting to be set up for success!
My Project
My students came in with some school supplies, but from my experience as a first grade teacher, and knowing that I will be working with 40 or more first graders this year, I can quickly assess that what they brought is not going to be enough to last us a whole school year! I am hoping to have this project funded before our supply is depleted!
We need pencils, erasers, crayons and more essentials that we will use to help us to become amazing writers and creators this year in first grade English Language Arts!
With these supplies, my students will be equipped to write, illustrate, create sentences, poems, paragraphs and essays to showcase all that they are learning! I can’t wait to see what they will do this year!
