My Students

Every morning, my Kindergartners walk into our classroom full of excitement, ready to learn, and eager to learn new things. I wait at the door for them and greet them individually with a "Good Morning!" All of them respond with a bright, big smile and a Good Morning!

I teach at a Title I school in New York where 98 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.

Many of my students enter Kindergarten not understanding/speaking English, not knowing how to recognize or write their name, not knowing the letters of the alphabet and their corresponding sounds. I support, encourage, and motivate all my students each day so they feel comfortable in exploring their new world and can achieve their fullest potential.

My Project

Art supplies are needed on a consistent basis in a Kindergarten classroom. We go through glue sticks, paper, and markers, both regular and dry erase, very quickly. There are many activities that my Kindergarten class create such as family portraits, reading projects based on comprehension, science projects and lots of self-directed projects during art center time. These supplies will allow my students to express themselves freely and their time will be spent on creating their work without having to wait for a certain color crayon, marker or use of a glue stick.

My students need art supplies to share their creativity and grow as individuals and learners.

Monies for basic supplies are spent quickly and early on in the school year. Without the help of generous donors, we cannot afford even the most basic supplies and students have to rely on sharing all materials which leads to less productivity and individuality. Please help me to get my students the supplies we need for a successful year of creativity and learning.
