Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Due to the challenging economic times we are facing, the special education department did not give teachers any money to start off their classrooms. It has been especially hard for me because this is the first year that I am teaching the autism class.

I teach students with autism.

My students function at different levels and therefore each one of my students has very different needs. Some are higher functioning while others are still unable to communicate verbally. My students are in a self-contained class, which means I have them for all the core subjects. My classroom is on a general education campus and does not have a lot of the materials that I need for my classroom to function smoothly.

My Project

These whiteboards will help my students become actively involved in the lesson. Individual whiteboards will also help me because I will be able to do quick informal assessments to monitor growth. The wipe sheets will benefit my students because we are limited on supplies and resources and instead of having to make copies of each page, they can just work on the sheet protectors. By doing this, we will preserve the books and save copy paper.

This project is important for the academic growth of my students.

Autistic children learn by being hands-on and all of the supplies that I am requesting allows each one of my students to be involved in each lesson.
