My Students
My class is a classroom for the future. We have so many great technologies available to us that we want to use it to the fullest potential. Students are excited to walk into a classroom where there is so much whiteboard space to explore mathematics and show their mathematical thinking.
My students are mathletes in training.
My students are 8th graders who are still excited about learning math and want to be challenged and see the relevance that math has in their lives. I have a very diverse group of students that range from different ethnicities and socioeconomic backgrounds as well as different interests.
My Project
The materials that I am requesting are things such as scientific calculators and the pocket chart to hold them. Students will be learning how to use these calculators as they explore common core standards as well as helping them prepare for high school when more complex calculators will be used. My class will also be using colored paper to help them create graphic organizers such as foldables to help them remember important concepts as well as for various projects throughout the year. I have also requested tools for the ipad that will allow students to explore mathematical drawings.
I want my students to be prepared for the world ahead of them with all the technology available to them and knowing how to utilize it.
In addition to being able to use technology as a tool to help them solve math problems, I would also like students to see the creative side of math and understand how important it is in their lives. I believe that these materials that I am requesting will not only help students develop into strong math students but encourage a love for learning mathematics.
