Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work with a very vibrant bunch of first graders. There is never a dull moment in our classroom. They are more like one big family than they are classmates. They argue with one another, but they care for and love one another even more. All twenty-five of them bring so much joy to my life in their own special way and I want nothing more than to provide them with a rich, academic learning environment.

My fabulous first graders continue to shine despite some of the struggles that they face both in and out of the classroom.

I work in a Title One school where all of my students receive free or reduced-price lunch.

My students and I are very close, not just because we see each other everyday, but because we have something special in common. We all speak two languages, both Spanish and English. My students were so happy to find out that I shared their home language with them and in return, they have felt safe to be open and honest with me about everything. I honestly could not have asked for a better group of scholars!

My Project

This project will be used to provide my students with the basic school supplies that they will need everyday throughout the school year. Whether at home or in person, my students need supplies such as pencils, glue sticks, and crayons.

This project will ensure that each child has what they need to start the school year successfully.

While we are still weathering the storm of the pandemic, I want to be proactive in preparing for a successful return for the new school year. Being able to have supplies available in the classroom would bring great relief to myself, my students and their parents in the event that they are unable to provide all of the supplies that their child will need.
