Supplies for a Great Start!

My students need quality supplies to start their year! My school serves a high needs area. Many students do not come to school with even basic materials they need to be successful like pencils and crayons.

My Students

My students are a group of lively, loving, energetic, and inspirational young children. They are excited about learning and growing their brains. They are invested in both their ability to learn and their classmates ability to do so. They work together as a team and are constantly encouraging one another. Throughout the year they have learned to face challenges head on and see work that seems hard as an opportunity to grow. They are full of smiles and laughter and pats on the backs and high fives. It has been an honor to teach them and watch them grow. I know my group next year will posses just as much love for one another and the same joy for learning and I hope with the help of Donors Choose we will be just as prepared for a great year!

My Project

These supplies will truly provide my students with what they need to feel prepared to learn. Almost all of my students come to school missing all or most of the materials they are supposed to bring according to our district's school supplies list. Parents try their best and often send them with one or two items. I can usually scrape together enough supplies to start the school year off with what we need but within about two months we are in need of refills and it becomes difficult to continue to supply all of the materials.

Without the basic supplies they need students are not given a chance to do their best and reach their fullest potential.

I do not want anything to hold my students, who work so hard, back from achieving their goals. Students need to see their work progress over time to see how far they have come and what they still need to work on. The k-2 journals will help keep a record of their work as they become authors and illustrators. Seeing their improvement builds confidence in students and makes them want to continue to put forth their best effort!

The large crayola crayon and marker boxes should last the year for my students! They make it possible for them to express themselves and to get creative, as they learn to be authors, illustrators, and artists too! We can also get creative and "rainbow" write our sight words which my students love! The expo markers are also essential as we use laminated worksheets or paper protectors so that we can print less paper. This helps cut down on costs and is also environmentally friendly. As a bonus, the kids LOVE the expo markers! The first day they get to use them it's like Christmas morning!
