This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Having adequate supplies in my classroom the entire year is a must in order for my students to be successful. My students do not have the means to bring supplies to school, so I must provide them with their pencils, paper, folders, markers and glue sticks for the year.

My school is located in a low-income area and most of the students come from a low-socioeconomic family.

100% of my students receive free breakfast and lunch, and for many of them, these are the only healthy and warm meals they receive each day. Most of the families cannot provide their children with any school supplies, and so I must rely on either my own funds or help from donors to provide these much needed supplies. In addition, most of my students are native Spanish speakers and many face significant hardships outside of school. Our school sets high expectations for all of our students and we teach them that by focusing on their education, they can achieve their goals. Many of my students have dreams of going to college and becoming professionals, but they have to work extra hard to overcome the disadvantages they face everyday.

My Project

In order for my students to be successful, I need to have basic materials for them to be able to complete their assignments. We will use these supplies everyday as we are learning and growing. Students will be able to complete assignments with their materials and be able to organize their work in their folders. The sheet protectors will allow my students to protect their assignments, and the laminating sheets and card stock will allow us to create math and word games to reinforce concepts we have learned. All of these materials will help my students learn and grow as scholars.

Every child deserves to have a proper education, but without the proper materials, my students cannot succeed.

They have to overcome so many other hardships at home, so when they come to school, I want to be able to provide new and functional materials so they can achieve their potential. My students come to school everyday wanting to learn, so any contribution to this project will help my students succeed!
