My Students

The students I work with are in a high-poverty situation. Most of them are considered "at-risk." This means these students are one to two grade levels behind. 100% of my students receive free breakfast and lunch. Many of my students come to school tired, hungry, and stressed and are in need of movement and engaging lessons to help them be successful in school.

With your help I can give them the supplies and tools they need to be successful this year.

My Project

Many students from my school cannot afford supplies, as my school is a Title I school. Having supplies is critical to the success of student learning in the classroom. The writing paper, pencils and markers will help supplement this situation. Additionally, the Gaiam ball chairs will help the students concentrate while still completing their independent work. The students will benefit from these by using the writing paper, pencils and markers to create their own stories during writing workshop. Dry erase markers are a first grader's best friend, I promise! They also need the paper and pencils to complete their math work. The doorbell is a great classroom management tool. It will help the students understand when it is time to focus on the teacher, which will be vital for them to learn the content. This being extremely important as many of my students are reading below grade level.

Shared reading is a vital part of balanced literature in a first grade classroom.

The easel will help hold the big books I use during shared reading time. This will help the students see the book easier, while I do the lesson for the day.

The presenter remote is something that hooks up to my computer. This allows me to change the slide on a power point presentation without me being at my computer. This will significantly help me keep my students on task during a whole group lesson, therefore helping them learn the content better.

Lastly, the 5 tier desk organizer will help my students and I keep organized. The desk organizer will be where the students turn in their assignments. The color coding will help them keep organized, therefore easier for me!
