Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach a 3rd - 5th-grade EXSEL (Explicit Social Emotional Learning) class. An EXSEL classroom focuses on using specifically taught social skills in a highly structured, safe, and positive environment.

My students enjoy working hard, playing hard, and being a part of their tight-knit classroom community.

My students want to be emotionally supported and understood and they work hard to build more effective social skills, coping strategies, and communication skills throughout the year. It is so awesome to see the progress that they make throughout the year and how it impacts their well-being and self-esteem.

My students will benefit from these materials in many ways. The Teachers Pay Teachers gift card will allow me to purchase academic materials that will enhance their individualized instruction such as enrichment activities for their reading program, math games, and writing guides and supports.

The materials such as the mesh organizers, paper trays, and fruit basket will ensure that we are able to have a highly organized and structured environment that runs smoothly. They will use these materials to get resources, turn-in work, and create a snack area.

The basic classroom supplies such as the three-hole punch and lamination sheets will help with keeping their materials organized in their binders and resources protected for frequent use. The Velcro dots are used all over the classroom for visual schedules, communication needs, calm down area, and more!

The stress balls, fidgets, notebooks, and pencils will serve as incentives for hard work and positive behavior. My students look forward to earning these types of incentives!
