My Students
I teach an amazing group of 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders with a range of disabilities from autism, specific learning disabilities, cerebral palsy, ADHD, hearing impairment, and emotional disturbance. These students have a wide range of backgrounds socially and economically. Our school is located in a low socioeconomic area and we strive for parent involvement.
I want my students to have the same learning opportunities as their typical peers.
They want to learn, understand, and be a part of activities, like their non-disabled peers. My students require a multitude of learning strategies and materials in order to reach their true potential. This involves many different ways of teaching and tools for engagement.
My students LOVE to learn through technology and enjoy moving around the classroom while they learn and work with me or a small group. They are so curious and it is very rewarding as a teacher when their light bulb goes off or something clicks and they start striving academically and socially.
My Project
We are in need of new individual names tags for desks. The big magnetic money will be great for whole group lessons as well as the giant sticky notes.
Our students love writing on the extra large sticky notes and we can also do fun activities outside with them!
The blank puzzle pieces with be an exciting free choice activity. They all really seem to love arts and crafts. We also need some new station activities, which is why I chose the new math game. Each student likes to display work; the magnets will help them hang work where they'd like!
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
