This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am excited to welcome 56 fifth graders into my Title 1 Math and Science classroom this September. They are all unique and special, coming from different countries, cultures and speaking different languages. They bring these and their experiences together to form one classroom.
All of my students want to learn and succeed, they just need to have the tools to do so.
They deserve to have the dream classroom that meets their needs and supports them as they overcome the many challenges that face them.
My Project
Have you ever asked or heard a child ask, "When will I ever use this in the real world?" "How is this going to help me when I finish school?"
Scholastic magazines provide students with the opportunity to read authentic, engaging stories that require them to use what is being learned in their Science class.
Students see a purpose for learning Science as they read articles about a how Science is used to solves today's problems. Students also build on their literacy skills and are required to use their critical thinking skills.
In addition to the magazines, a subscription gives us access to the online support Scholastic provides. There are vocabulary activities, films to provide further support and activities and games students can complete.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
