Supermarket Sweep Relays

Help me give my students scooters, pretend food, and rubber cones for a hands-on experience with a fun game of supermarket sweep where they will use their knowledge of the five food groups.

My Project

My students are always looking for an exciting new way to demonstrate what they have learned in physical education class. Supermarket sweep is a fun and exciting way for my students to learn about nutrition and healthy eating habits. Not only does the game provide a hands-on experience of the principles of a balanced diet, but the scooters used will provide an opportunity to exercise their muscles. It will provide a different approach to relays rather than the typical “on foot” relays. Supermarket sweep with life-like foods, grocery bags, and scaffolding charts, will be very engaging and memorable. Students will look forward to applying their knowledge of the five food groups and physical skills they’ve learned.
