This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember what it was like to learn to read? For some it comes easy and for others its more of a challenge. My students would love a listening center to help them become better readers.
My class consists of 22 first and second grade students at an arts charter school in Florida.
Many come from homes where English is not the primary language, so learning to read is a struggle for these students. They are eager to become the best readers! A listening center will help them achieve that goal.
My Project
The items requested (cd player, headphones, books on cd, and junction box) would help set up a listening center in our classroom. The students would be able to use this equipment daily to enhance their learning experience during centers. The materials will be used for all subjects by incorporating many different types of read-along stories. In addition, the listening center will help my students develop phonics skills and fluency by listening to these stories.
Reading is a life long skill and my students will benefit greatly from this listening center.
