This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come to school eager to learn! My school is a Title I school. We are in a very low income neighborhood, with 98% of the students coming from low-income families. A total of 78.2% students who attend this school are Latino, with a total of 39.4% of student population being English Language Learners.

I'm a Special Education teacher in Chicago Public Schools.

This is my 12th year teaching. The students that I work with have

been diagnosed with Learning Disabilities, Autism, Intellectual Disabilities, Emotional Disturbance, Juvenile Dermatomyositis, and ADHD. I also have experience working with dual language programs and experience working with students learning English. The students that I service are very hard working and kind.

My Project

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to reward my students for modeling respectful, responsible, and safe behavior. It has not been easy for my special education students to transition back to live setting of our school.

Students will be given prizes for being respectful, responsible, and safe.

Each time they are caught modeling spectacular behavior, they will earn tickets . At the end of the week, they will be able to gather their tickets in exchange for a prize/reward of their liking.

The school I service is a low income community, and my students do not always the cute and fun toys they wished they had. All this will be possible with your help.
