This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is a small school of about 250 scholars. At our school, 90% of scholars qualify for free or reduced lunch. The attendance rate for the school is less than the city, and we work hard to encourage scholars to attend school every day.
At our school, we refer to our students as scholars.
We set high expectations for our scholars. We want them to become critical thinkers and problem solvers and to connect their learning in their present and future.
I, along with my co-teacher, teach 30-second grade students with a variety of learning styles and needs. They have a lot of energy and are eager to share. We are working to create a positive learning environment where all ideas are welcome and their value is appreciated. We encourage our scholars to work collaboratively as often as possible and to encourage the success of their peers.
My Project
My co-teacher and I have 2nd graders that are fully remote this year. Our students and their families are trying to create learning spaces in their homes but there are limitations to what they can do. Many of our students have family members that are also attending class or working. There is a lot of background noise that can be distracting.
We would like to provide our students with headphones to help students focus better while learning at home.
Our students do not always have a space in their homes that they can work without distractions. There is often background noise that keeps students from being able to focus on lessons. Headphones would help students to hear lessons more clearly. The microphone on the headphones will allow us and students to hear each other better since the microphones on the devices are not always working.
