My Students
Our school is located on the edge of the Salt Lake Valley. I teach first grade to a total of 20 first graders. We have an amazing community surrounding us, along with beautiful mountains and hills.
I have an amazing group of first graders!
They love to learn, and they are willing to go out of their comfort zones to succeed each and every day. These students have a variety of personalities, learning styles, and strengths. It is our goal to help each student accomplish goals and gain confidence throughout the school year.
My Project
These materials are going to make a world of difference for these 1st graders. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, these students have had to make a lot of changes. Their lunch time is the second to last and has been pushed back to accommodate new health standards. They are also adjusting to full day school.
A dedicated morning snack will help them stay focused and engaged by meeting their basic human need of hunger.
The materials for this project are snacks to help them make it to lunch for at least the first few months of school. The mid-way between arrival at school and lunch is a perfect time for students to have a snack. It gives them energy to power through to lunch, and it will help them stay motivated.
These snacks/materials are to help them at school, but they could be sent home as well. A hungry student cannot focus on learning.
