Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Should a lack of engaging supplies interfere with a child's education? My students come from low socioeconomic families, and they are eager to learn! They just need that extra encouragement and support that I am more than willing to give them.

I am a second grade teacher in a Title 1 school.

This school is in a low income area, and many of my students come from a troubled home situation. I also have several students where English is their second language, so having a variety of materials available to my class is essential! I want more than anything for my students to be exposed to a wide variety of interesting and engaging materials so they can achieve their fullest potential.

My Project

These resources will provide my students with a variety of materials to keep them engaged in learning. The writing prompt cards feature step by step instructions and easy to follow writing prompts, so students can complete the activities on their own, starting them on their way with the writing process. These literacy activities are fun and engaging, a must for students to be successful in their learning! The wrap around language games, tic-tac-toe games, and write and wipe pockets will provide a wide variety of strategies in which to learn and cover essential standards at the same time. Targets standards in these areas: • Contractions • Prefixes & suffixes • Parts of speech • Syllables • Verb tenses • Synonyms & antonyms • Recognizing correct spelling These activities would make it possible for students to be productive while I work with them individually and in small groups, focusing on their areas of need.

Budget cuts have affected us all, and they have made their way into my classroom as well.

Your generous donation to my project would dramatically change the level of engagement in my classroom and do wonders to help create young readers who love to read! Thank you so much for considering this proposal.
